Why it’s worth it?
ECU chip tuning refers to rewriting or remapping the software in your vehicle’s Engine Control Unit (ECU) to improve the vehicle’s performance and/or responsiveness. The manufacturer generally uses conservative maps in the ECU to allow for slight variations across motors, poor fuel quality, and inadequate maintenance or neglect by owners.
By uploading new software to the ECU I can make adjustments to engine parameters. I can modify boost maps (on turbocharged vehicles), adjust ignition timing, and optimize air:fuel ratios. On most vehicles, I will also adjust the throttle maps for better throttle response, transmission maps for quicker shifts, raise the rev limiter, and remove the speed governor.
All custom made flash tunes are engineered to assure the highest level of performance without any loss of drivability. Custom tunes will make more power/torque than any off-the-shelf tune, or piggyback unit.
Why is flash tuning better? Well, piggyback tunes can only influence parameters in the ECU that are already there. They can not change the programming. Flash tunes can change the programming.
